In celebration of International Women's Day, Hult's AI Society - San Francisco had the privilege of welcoming Mariane Bekker, Michelle Yi, and Hedi Razavi, PhD for our first ever Women in AI Panel.

Through sharing their experiences and perspectives, our remarkable panel gave us much to think and reflect on. Here are my three key takeaways:

Diversity in Product Development: The panelists underscored the importance of integrating diverse perspectives into product development. This isn't just about ticking a box; it's about genuinely representing the voice of the customer. Their insights reminded us that products should reflect the varied needs and viewpoints of our global customer base, making them more inclusive and universally applicable.

Unconscious Bias Reflection: A powerful point made was the need for each of us to introspect and challenge our unconscious biases. The discussion prompted a necessary reflection on the stereotypes and biases that unconsciously shape our perceptions and decisions, urging us to think deeper about the root causes of these biases and how they impact our interactions and decision-making processes.

Advocacy for the Underrepresented: Perhaps the most resonant takeaway was the call to advocate for those not in the room, particularly women who might downplay their achievements or contributions. This isn't just a task for women but a collective responsibility. Men, as allies, play a crucial role in recognizing and amplifying the voices and contributions of women in tech, ensuring they are not only heard but also valued and acknowledged.

As we reflect on the insights from this panel, the significance of International Women's Day becomes even more apparent, especially in the realms of technology and entrepreneurship.

It's a day that reminds us of the strides we've made towards gender equality, but more importantly, it highlights the journey ahead. It's a call to action for everyone in the tech community to foster an environment that not only celebrates diversity but actively promotes it, making the tech space more inclusive, equitable, and representative of the world we live in.
